The IRB is a committee of scientists, non-scientists and community members. At CHAG, the IRB review research proposals to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects who participate in research activities conducted under the auspices of the organization.

Ethical Clearance Application Procedure

Steps to apply for ethical clearance at the CHAGIRB

Download the respective forms from the Researcher and Students pages
Read all instructions on the form and provide the needed information.

A softcopy of the protocol should be first submitted to CHAG IRB for pre-review by the IRB Administrator before printing.
After the preview you will be required to submit 9 bound hardcopies to the CHAG Institutional Review Board (IRB) for review.
You must ensure that the following requirement are attached to the completed application form:
1. Letters (Application for Ethical Clearance Letter, Introduction Letter from your Institution).
2. Study Proposal (Abstract/Executive Summary, Introduction/Rationale, Literature Review, General Aim and Specific Objectives, Methodology, Ethical Considerations, Expected Outcomes/Results, References, Work Plan, Budget and Budget Justification).
3. Consent Form, Assent Form, Parental Consent Form (where applicable)
4. Data Collection Instruments (i.e. Interview Guide, Questionnaire, etc.)
5. Curriculum Vitae of Study Investigator(s) / Supervisor(s).
6. Any other documents that support the application.
